Was innocently typing away earlier when the naughty cat fetched in a live mouse; normally, I have the window just open a crack to filter out such goings-on, but I forgot. I gave an involuntary little eeeeeeeeek, then cornered fiendish cat on stair. She dropped the mouse and retreated up a few steps and suddenly became very blase about the whole thing - she is, after all, a celebrated hunter. After much coaxing and maneuvering, I got the poor little mouse into a vase and released it outside in the long grass. By the way it scooted off, I don't think it's injured.

Remix fic beta'd and submitted. Was angsting about that, but it's done. Can't wait to read the remix from one of my stories :)

Grandlamb and Grandmonkey are tucked up in bed upstairs. We played football for an hour, which was fun :) One of the footballs got lost in the nettles that border our garden and the horse field next to it... not a chance I could retrieve it, luckily we had a spare :)

Grandlamb fell asleep with her eyes wide open, always a bit scary...

American Idol - SPOILERS )

Bought Frost/Nixon and will probably get chance to watch it tomorrow. Have been watching Mad Men (Season 1) and have a couple of episodes to watch. I don't get how no one is watching this, or appreciating it; the writing is masterful, the production values stupendous, the acting superb. The last ep I watched, there was a reveal at the end that just broke my heart, the back story was so visceral and unexpected and, well, just so many miles above what's normally on TV. I'm sad I have no one to talk with about this series, but that's life.

Parents still causing me much consternation; cleaned their bedroom carpet this morning, then took Mum food shopping. Dad seems fixated on his funeral arrangements. I remember when he was the pirate captain in a rowing boat and my little brother and I were his crew and now he's contemplating his death. What a mad world this is, that we exist and it's a given that we lose people and then become the lost ourselves. I feel awfully old right now.
